BOY WITH BLUE HAT in PALETTE KNIFE
This is the BIG boy that I worked on last night...I Loved the blue hat in the original photo and had to put in down on canvas. The hat in this painting has a great deal of turquoise in it, which for some reason did not translate well in the photo shoot.
Painting this one was really exhilirating. Since it was not a commission, I did not have to stress about the likeness and instead got to play with putting the paint down on the canvas and moving it around with knives and fingers.

EARTHY ABSTRACT - PALETTE KNIFE
This small beauty was painted as part of a couple warm-up paintings for a large portrait palette knife creation. I love the way these subtle earthy colors come together to make a totally cohesive painting.
Tune in tomorrow for the palette knife portrait of a boy in blue hat!

ROSES BUSH in PALETTE KNIFE - SOLD
Guess what - for all you non-animal aficionados...Here is a rose bush in all it's glory. We have couple of really pretty rose bushes that require ZERO maintenance and my hubby let's them be. They are truly wild and free! They bloom constantly and add a splash of color against the white plastic fence. LOVE THEM!

BLACK HORSE in COLOR
This is one large boy! It 24" by 48 " and looks really WOW on the wall...I have been experimenting with some new oil paints - picked up a few colors of the Lukas 1862 and so far I am thrilled with the saturation of pigment and buttery consistency of the paints. Perfect for Palette Knife paintings.

BLACK HORSE IN PALETTE KNIFE
What a day...It started with a dentist visit to get a crown and ended with creation of this little beauty!
I was not going to paint today, as I got home pretty worn out and with a throbbing side of the face. Aftre dinner, I did go into my art studio to cleanup and rearrange a few things. While moving some stuff I came across a 12 x 12 canvas that was toned light blue. I picked it up and MOJO took over and let me create this totally fictitious horse. I LOVE the color scheme on this boy!!!

WHITE STALLION #2 in PALETTE KNIFE
It has been a very painful day at work today. It was long , hard and the worst part of the day was hearing the news that friend's son was in a horrendous car accident over the weekend. He is only 18 and was supposed to graduate this Sunday. He is fighting for his life and so is his family...
Did you know that Prom and Graduation are the two events that increase the risk of teen car accidents. I had no clue...Until last week... When one of our local communities lost 3 boys in one high speed accident...And now, my friend is dealing with the pain...That's not fair...
This boy here is one of my favorites!

DRESSAGE HORSE AND RIDER - SOLD
Here is an interesting crop of a dressage rider in a competition ring. I have no idea who the rider is. I took a bunch of photos at couple of the horse shows last year and never kept track of who the partnerships was. It's better this way - less pressure if you are working anonymously.
I think I will try this crop on a larger scale. maybe 30" x 30" ???

WHITE STALLION in PALETTE KNIFE
Submission, as most dressage riders can attest, is an important part of the dressage training as well as competitive dressage. This guy looks like he is ready to listen and cooperate. I know..I know...The stallion in my painting is way over bent in the neck - but after all it's just ART!

FROGGY REWORKED
I have not had much energy and mojo to start on some new canvases, but this frog painting has been asking for a rework. Even though the dark background made the frog pop, it was not "speaking" to me. I find that adding the brickwork also added interest to the entire piece...

BIG BLUE HORSE - Palette Knife
It has been over a week since I posted. Sorry...
I spent the last 7 days (12 +hrs per day) at the Raleigh Horse Hunt Complex running a horse show. Days were long and very HOT, but all involved had a BLAST being there. With all these hours away from my home, I did not have time to get into my studio - "much'. This boy was created over a period of several semi-sleepless nights. I think this one was my first one on a canvas that was 2" deep. It really make a statement on the wall!
